Photochromics

Photochromic inks are clear when not exposed to UV radiation and become coloured under UV light. The inks change according to the intensity of the light. The colour change is reversible so the ink will become clear after removal from the UV light source.

**The small amount of colour observed in the "colourless" or "clear" state of the screen inks is visible at thicker ink films, as with screen printing. The colourless or clear state of thinner ink films, like offset and flexo prints, have only a very faint amber colour, if any at all.
